At Shelby Cheyenne Equine Advancement, our training program is built to support every stage of the performance horse journey—from helping clients select promising yearlings to developing competitive show horses. We specialize in horses geared toward NRHA competition and Ranch Versatility classes, with training tailored to produce confident, capable athletes for both nonpros and professionals. In addition to horse development, we provide private coaching for non-pro riders, including support with hauling and showing, as well as confidence-building and horsemanship coaching.
We are committed to integrity, education, and results, offering select clinics and demonstrations that highlight reining, ranch horse development, and practical horsemanship.
Horses have shaped every part of Shelby Cheyenne’s life, and that passion is the foundation of Shelby Cheyenne Equine Advancement.
She launched the program in 2012—while still in high school—with a vision to build a full-circle performance horse program that supports horses and riders from the very beginning all the way to the show pen.
Over the years, Shelby has had the privilege of learning from industry legends including Chris Cox, Dan James, Craig Johnson, Gary Gonsalves, Matt Mills, and Jason Vanlandingham—mentorships that continue to influence her training philosophy.
Her accomplishments include NRHA earnings, ARHA and APHA Reserve World Champion titles, multiple World Show top placings, Morgan Grand National & World Championships, and being a Top 10 Extreme Mustang Makeover Finalist three times. She’s also coached non-pro and youth riders to top placings at AQHA Congress and World Shows.
Shelby’s experience runs deep. She grew up riding on a horse rescue, where she remains active today. Her journey also includes ten years in 4-H, time as an FFA member, hands-on work in a veterinary clinic, and service as a special needs educator aide. Her work as a professional horsewoman has been recognized internationally with clinic and coaching work across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Guided by her Christian faith, Shelby brings integrity, grit, and a horse-first mindset to every aspect of her program—from colt starting and developing performance horses to helping riders grow in skill and confidence.
Katie didn’t grow up in a horse family—but once the horse bug bit at age 8, she never looked back. She began riding lessons early, joined Pony Club, and spent her teen years immersed in dressage, eventing, and show jumping. In college, she competed on an intercollegiate equestrian team and earned Top 15 finishes at the 2017 All American Quarter Horse Congress in Hunter Under Saddle and the 2020 APHA World Show—the latter on a rescue horse she brought along herself.
Katie holds a business degree and brings a sharp, organized approach to her role at Shelby Cheyenne Equine Advancement. She manages all client accounts, scheduling, and daily business operations, ensuring the program runs smoothly behind the scenes. Her previous work in a mixed animal veterinary practice and her ongoing volunteer work at Cheyenne’s Haven Rescue reflect her dedication to both animal care and community support.
Alongside Shelby, Katie co-owns and shows a select group of boutique broodmares. Together, they’ve partnered on a few standout mares with the goal of building a small-scale, high-quality breeding program rooted in proven bloodlines and thoughtful long-term development.
Every barn needs a boss—and around here, it’s Little Girl. Don’t let her size fool you, she runs a tight ship, keeping the feed room mouse-free and supervising daily chores with quiet authority. Equal parts sass and sweetness, Little Girl has earned her title as Head of Rodent Control and Resident Morale Booster.
